Born and raised on Treaty 13 Territory (Huron-Wendat, Mississauga, Haudenosaunee, Anishinabe), MC grew up spending ample time in nature across these + Williams/Robinsons Treaty areas. Enamoured by the beauty of Turtle Island; this reverence is at the heart of how MC chooses to facilitate themselves and their ventures.

In their early 20’s, after completing a BFA + teaching diploma, MC began nomadic life as a teacher and educator; living and working around the world. This work led to becoming a Psychotherapist with a MA in Conflict Transformation, Peacebuilding, taking MC to 30+ more countries with their work. The depth and richness of this work; as well as the insights and perspectives from colleagues across cultures allowed MC to become a healer, connector + advocate, with a rooted understanding of the interconnectedness of all things.

Quite vocal about being bipolar and neurodivergent, MC creates art and writing in response to their experience, as well as dedicating much of their time to physical movement (running, hiking, yoga, strength-training, and so forth).
In such transparency, after years of being burnout by the systems-that-be, MC knew they could not continue along the path, and would have to shift ventures in order to create something truly sustainable. In realizing that providing healing, connection and advocacy could arrive and exist in many forms - MC decided to create: Salt+Sickle Homestead. A place where everyone can participate, feel physically/mentally/spiritually included, ask questions, share insights, and keep community connections thriving. A place where you can watch your energetic investment grow right in front of you; spreading its roots deep and strong.

With a year of growing food under their belt, MC is ready to up their game for the coming season. More garden beds + tunnels, more greenhouse; more market stand; more summer and winter events; more bringing the community together - and beginning years of traditions collectively held close. Healing, connection and advocacy.

Radical imagination in action.
